I am in the market for a new carp/light saltwater reel for my 7 wt , and thought I would see what everybody else is using. So what's your favorite reel? And why?

I have an old Ross Cimarron which I love...for some reason you cant tighten down the drag all the way on the old cimarron's, but palming it works fine.

Most carp fishing I do I can get away with 8lb level leader or heavier. So the need for a super smooth drag aka super expensive reel is not necessary. I use Pflugers (trion, president) both have great drags and cost under 150. Keep in mind the key to a drag system is the amount of stall at start up. When a fish runs that drag needs to start smooth. The next thing is how smooth it runs for long periods. Does it dissipate heat? Does it vary in speed and tension as it builds heat causing the rod to bounce? Now if you plan to fish for carp with lighter line you may want to look in to more expensive reels. Im hearing great things about the Nautilus brand check em out...

one million X 365= 365 million x 2010= seven hundred thirty three billion six hundred and fifty million. (733,650,000,000) One trillion minus 733,650,000,000 = Two hundred sixty six billion three hundred and fifty million...... So if you were given 1 trillion (1,000,000,000,000) dollars on the day Christ died and you spent one million (1,000,000....looks small huh?) dollars a day untill jan one 2010 you would still have more than 266 billion dollars left (266,360,000,000) We are 12+ trillion dollars in debt! Update we are now 14 tillion in debt!

There is so many good reels out there, way too many to list.

You really can't go wrong with any of the popular brands...

Nautilus is certainly a good one.
